Wednesday and Thursday of this week are certainly high up in the list of really bad days in my life.   We were given the news on Wednesday that the scan my husband had been given revealed spots on his liver that was almost certainly cancer.   The following day a further scan revealed that the cancer had started elsewhere.   Whilst staff couldn't deliver a miracle pill to take that away, they did treat both my husband and myself with a great deal of care and compassion.   Really couldn't praise them enough.   This was in the surgical ambulatory unit and ward 208 in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.   Still reeling in shock, so didn't really take in their names, but wanted to make sure that the people there know how grateful we were.

Thank you so much for taking the time to post your feedback at what must be a very difficult time for you and your husband. Ill health is never welcome but when it comes out of the blue like this it is a very great shock to patients and family alike.

Care and compassion are at the heart of everything we do in nursing and it is lovely to hear that such kindness was shown you in your time of need. We must all of us remember that the human side of caring is as important as the medical diagnosis and treatment.

Your short story will inspire others to be the best they can be all day every day and I thank you for that inspiration.

I wish you and your husband well for the journey you must now travel together.
