"Recovered in time to sit Nat 5 exams and got 5 A's!"

About: Coathill Hospital / General Psychiatry University Hospital Monklands / Mental Health

(as a parent/guardian),

My son had a major mental health related episode. Left a suicide note and went missing - we thought we had lost him. The feeling of terror and loss cannot be described.

Thank God, he came back.

He spoke with the Psychiatric Nurse in Monklands Hospital initially, and she arranged a quick referral to the CAMHS Psychiatrist in Coathill Hospital.

My son is better now - the care was brilliant - he recovered in time to sit his Nat 5 exams in May and got 5 A's !!!

Update posted by Relieved Dad (a parent/guardian)

Thanks for replying - I must have had a slip of the finger when typing my experience - it was actually 7 A's:-))

It is only after having our own experience that we have realised how unbelievably common the acute mental health problems that young people have - pressure from everywhere and, I think, a lack of what I would consider healthy interraction with their peers outwith school (I.e., social media is not, in general, the most healthy or natural way for our children to communicate with each other).

Anyway - an extremely valuable service that I feel must be fully supported.
