"All patients received the same great treatment"

About: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - Queen's Medical Centre Campus / Ophthalmology

(as a service user),

After a visit to my optician on Saturday I was told to go to Eye Casulty first thing Monday morning for further tests and this I did. 8am in the morning and there were a number of patients waiting for the doctors to arrive at 9am. I was greeted with a smile by one of the units sisters and quickly I was quickly seen by a staff nurse who took my history tested my vision & put dilating drops in my eyes, ready to see the Doctor. I then had a short wait before being called in, My eyes were examined, the diagnosis given by my optician was confirmed, I was given time to ask questions, was given advice on what to expect and what may mean I needed to return.all members of staff were very friendly and approachable. There was just one thing, the lovely HCA called my name loudly and clearly, there was quite a bit of chatter in the waiting area, people checking in and children waiting and when I was shown into the doctor he pointed out that he had called me twice already, but I did not hear (or see) him. Maybe this is something that could be looked at to ensure people gear their names called.

My visit lasted 2 and a quarter hours which was very reasonable, great service.

BTW I am a service user who also works at the Trust and I felt that the staff ensured all patients received the same great treatment without delays.

Thank you for your feedback – it is greatly appreciated. We will share your feedback with our teams, including the positive aspects and your helpful suggestion for where we can do better (ie: changing the waiting area arrangements so that patients are able to hear when they are called to see the doctor).

Best wishes
