"Smoking"

About: Basildon University Hospital / Nephrology

Can nothing be done about the smoking in front of the doors to the renal unit. It is awful having to walk through clouds of smoke and wade through piles of cigarette ends. People even sit under the huge "no smoking" signs and puff away. It is truly unpleasant. It seems everyone is a culprit patients, visitors, even staff! Dialysis is hard enough without this.

Firstly may we apologise for the delay in our response to your comments appearing on this site.

We are sorry to hear about your experience outside of the renal unit at Basildon Hospital.

The Trust is working with Provide, a community interest company supporting health lifestyle services, including smoking cessation, however ensuring no-smoking on all hospital sites remains a challenge.

Your comments have been forwarded to the team working to resolve this issue.
