What I liked
During August my son was admitted to the childrens ward. He was treated very well and all the nurses were lovely. The doctors explained results and tests to me and it was overall a very good stay for him and myself. I was able to stay with him 24/7 until I myself had to be admitted to A&E when the nurses took over full care of him until my partner was able to come and look after him. When I was admitted to A&E one of the student nurses from the childrens ward accompanied me and stayed with me and kept in touch with the chidrens ward for me so I always knew that my boy was okay. I was the admitted onto the surgical assessment unit and was treated very well and was able to visit my son on the childrens ward during my stay. I was released the next day and my son was released 2 days later and is having continuing outpatient care with a senior consultant that really seems to care and always keeps us up to date with progress.
What could be improved
Our only downside is that we are awaiting an appointment for a scan for my son but as this is from a leeds based hospital it does not affect my view of dewsbury hospital.
"Brilliant care for both me and my son in a..."
