"The team on majors 2 were amazing in her treatment"

About: Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske) / Emergency Department Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske) / Gastroenterology

(as a relative),

My wife was brought in feeling very unwell and admitted to Majors 2 where it became clear she had a very serious Sepsis infection which became life threatening. The team on majors 2 were amazing in her treatment and keeping us fully up to speed with everything that was happening as she was seriously ill.

She had scans and blood tests and the Sepsis infection had caused a very nasty infection which meant she had to have an operation. She was in theatre for a good 5 hours and then another shorter operation the next day which had this not happened so quickly she most probably wouldn't be here now. She spent a week on Critical Care and these guys were amazing. The staff here are fantastic for us never felt like they couldn't be bothered to talk to us, my wife is recovering currently on a surgical ward and the nurses and health care staff are truly angels. The NHS is an amazing system that too many take for granted and expect miracles. My family is forever grateful to Majors 2, the surgical team, critical care unit and so far the follow up care on Pendennis Ward. Please ensure they are all Aware they do an amazing job and thank you

Thank you so much for your kind words.

Communication is a very important part of patient care in ED and something we sometimes forget to do as well as we should. I am so pleased that your wife is making a full recovery and that we were part of that.

Kind Regards

Jane Michell
