About: St Peter's Hospital (Chertsey)

What I liked

Our daughter (10) was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes 3 weeks ago. These are very difficult times for us as a family. However, the support we have received from the Diabetes team at St Peter's Hospital in Chertsey has been wonderful: They have been professional, comprehensive and caring; they have included for us visits to our daughter's school to help educate staff, held meetings with us at our home and they have given us a daily contact to help us monitor our daughter's condition throughout the day. We have the advice of a dietician on hand and we have been given contact details for a local and very active support group. We have been left with no false impressions about the future and the challenge we face but it has been delivered with sensitivity and care by a highly experienced team.

My wife and I both lost our respective Fathers in June 2011 and then my Mother had her gall-bladder removed in October this year and the catalogue of appalling experiences we had at the hands of the NHS throughout this period left us full of trepidation when we discovered our daughter was ill, but the Diabetes team at St Peters Hospital is in a completely different class and we were deeply indebted to them for their dedication and vocational commitment.
