"Ridiculous"

About: The James Cook University Hospital

Anything else?

My Nana last visited outpatients for a Urology appointment in April 2011 to be offered surgery. It is now December 2011 and she still has not received an appointment. My Nana has contacted the Consultants secretary on 3 separate occasions to chase up the appointment without success.

The first time she called she was told the waiting lists are very busy and she will get an appointment. That's fair enough but when she still doesn't receive an appointment she calls a second time to be told they are aware of her being on a list, (so where is the appointment letter). Still no luck so she calls a third time weeks later to be told by the secretary, 'oh I do remember you calling last time, we are very busy but you will get an appointment'

We are now in December! I know it's the NHS and it's very busy but it's been 8 months and still no appointment letter. A very long 18 weeks that they try to accommodate.

My Nana will try a 4th call this morning, after finding out from an internal source that she is not even on a waiting list.

I think a visit to PALS is in order this week.

South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust did not receive your concerns due to technical difficulties. I hope you managed to contact the PALS Department to discuss your concerns. However, if you did not and still wish to discuss your feedback, please contact the Patient Relations Department (PALS) on 01642 854807. Thank you
