"Emergency Admission After RTC"

About: East Midlands Ambulance Service NHS Trust / Emergency ambulance Northampton General Hospital (Acute) / Accident and emergency Northampton General Hospital (Acute) / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as a service user),

A vehicle recently knocked me off my motorcycle on a traffic island. I was conveyed by ambulance to A & E. I sustained an open dislocation of my right thumb, severe bruising and grazes down the whole of the left side of my body and legs, and concussion.

Everyone involved in my care and treatment were amazing, I was in considerable pain, especially when the dislocation was ‘corrected’, and now at home I ache from head to Foot!

I would like to thank all those who took care of me both at A &E and at Cedar Ward, in such times as these with increasing demands and limited resources I am very thankful for the quality of care I received, everyone from the ambulance crew, the doctors, nurses and care assistants, and not forgetting the porters. Thank you all very much.

Dear David

Thank you for sharing your experience with us and your kind words regarding the care you received.

I’m glad that our crew were able to make you feel cared for and reassured, during what must have been a very distressing situation for yourself.

If you are able, we would appreciate you sharing your comments with our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) team, with as much detail as you can (eg date, time and location), so that they might identify the crew that cared for the coach passenger that day and share your words with them. You may contact the team via telephone on 0333 012 4216 or email emas.pals@nhs.net.

I hope you are making a swift recovery!

Lee Brentnall
Ambulance Operations Manager
Leicestershire, Rutland and Northamptonshire Divisions
