"Understaffed At Night, But Still Doing ..."

About: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - Queen's Medical Centre Campus / Gynaecology

My Daughter Was an out patient After A Scan 9th of August due to being severely dehydrated. One nurse, One Dr, With 2 other Support Staff members on a full . The emergency buttons went off repeatedly and these individuals were run off their feet. Not once did I see a face without a caring smile, not once did we feel mistakes would be made, what I did feel was sad that across a period of 6 hrs no one had had a break! After several bags of water and anti sick drugs, care and attention my daughter was admitted to in patients. Easy transition, one that took awhile as staff were thin on the ground. Although the team did a great job, it's unnerving to recognize that the staffing is low as it's easy when folks are over worked for mistakes to be made. I am concered that staff will become over worked, under appreciated and demoralized eventually and you will begin to lose some great people.

Thank you for your kind words and for highlighting and recognising our hard-working and dedicated staff. If helpful, we would welcome the opportunity to talk to you further about how we ensure our wards are safely staffed and the work we do to look after the health and wellbeing of our staff. Your appreciation means a great deal to all of us. We hope your daughter is feeling better.

Best wishes
