"No Consistency in Treatment"

My husband has been with Folly Hall for 4 years now, being treated for borderline personality disorder, depression and anxiety. In that time, he's been seen by a total of 4 different prescribing psychiatrists - at every appointment he's had to go through his whole patient history once again and had meds analysed and changed. How are you supposed to have any sort of consistency in treatment, when the doctors here change so often?

He had an appointment in June 2018 with one doctor, and when calling to request a written statement regarding his mental health for his university application in August, was told that the last doctor he'd seen has now left, and that no statement could be written until he sees this new doctor. The next appointment is in November, which is obviously too late for the statement to be provided, and nothing can be done about this apparently.

When calling the service, you never know whether the doctor is going to be the same person you saw last time. Across all 4 of these years, he has only seen the same doctor twice in a row, and that one has now left at the end of June 2018.

The last doctor we saw felt as though it was okay to tell my husband that he was not suffering from depression, despite being on medication for this, and despite telling the doctor that he was struggling with classic depression symptoms more recently.

Stability and consistency is of vital importance in treating mental health issues, as is the ability to trust your doctor and feel that they are working with you and not telling you in a patronising manner that you don't have something which you have been diagnosed with and lived with for most of your adult life!

And now, he has to go through the whole new process of explaining his medical history all over again to yet another new doctor, and god knows what this one will be like!
