"Lack of care"

About: Borders General Hospital / General Medicine

(as the patient),

I was admitted to Borders General Hospital being paralysed from neck down due to an underlying health issue. I felt I was treated poorly by staff felt awful having all my needs met which often was forgotten about then being told I could move when I couldn't as staff hadn't communicated properly was my worst stay in hospital ever I felt so ashamed for having a medical condition that I felt no-one bothered to research or ask me about but just treated me like an invalid.

Dear serpensjd48

Thank you for sharing your story on Care Opinion.

I am disappointed and concerned to hear of your experience of the care you received and the attitudes of the staff whilst in the Borders General Hospital. All staff should treat those they are caring for with, compassion, dignity and respect and should also have an understanding of their condition so that they can understand the impact on that individual and therefore support them in the most appropriate way.

I would like to hear more about your experience, so that I can share your story with the staff involved so that they can learn from it. If you felt able to do this my contact details are.
