"Awful experience as a first-time patient"

I booked to see the Dentist followed by the Hygienist with a view to moving the whole family to the practice. On the morning of my appointment I called to confirm and found that I'd entered the time incorrectly in my diary, probably due to having a very young baby and being a bit discombobulated. I was dependent on a lift and having called the person driving, found I could still just about make it, albeit potentially a few minutes late. Called again to let them know and the receptionist was great, warning me that if I was any later, the dentist might not be able to see me. Arrived ten minutes late and was told that the dentist had taken in the patient before me but that she would see me. Went upstairs to wait. When I was called in, the Dentist was extremely hostile. After I apologised (again) for my lateness and thanked her for seeing me, she said "You do realise you're not having a check-up today?". Her tone and demeanour were horrible and she didn't let up. I said I didn't know that and she talked to me like a naughty child. I asked her if I'd made her angry by being late and she became patronising and increasingly unfriendly, speaking slowly and saying I'd created a problem and she was now trying to fix it. I told her that her tone was making me feel very uncomfortable and she shrugged, which I took to mean that I could take it or leave it. Thanked her and said it wasn't the right practice for us. Can you imagine a Dentist in that mood treating you? Shocking.
