"Very satisfied with Townhill GP Surgery"

About: Townhill Surgery

I appreciate it is a very busy practice and therefore I would not expect an immediate response to telephone calls, nor to automatically achieve my first choice of appointment times. Staff are very professional, and I value their knowledge and advice on my medical condition. I have Asthma which can flare up quickly, and apart from one incident when I failed to respond to a return call at a critical time, all staff are always helpful, polite and respectful, and this includes GPs, Nurses, and Reception staff. At that time I had rung to request assistance following an Asthmatic episode, and not thought a return call would be made so promptly and was using my Nebuliser so did not hear the phone ringing. I am aware this created an issue for the staff concerned, at a very busy time.

I particularly appreciated being offered to attend a Hub surgery recently following an appointment to arrange for an assessment of my current Hearing Aid, which required repair. Due to the given date of the Assessment and there being no available non urgent appointment prior to this, I gratefully accepted the Receptionists offer to seek a Hub. My present Aid has been binned by the Audiology Department as 'way beyond its use by date'!!. Additionally I was today very impressed with the lengths that a Nurse went through to ensure I can order and collect my medications at the same time. With one of my inhalers the dosage in the carton has been reduced, and with the lead Pharmacist currently on leave, I was unable to explain to the Locum that one supply of 60 doses was only going to last a fortnight given I need four puffs daily. and the surgery had certainly ordered the relevant amount.

He insisted I go back to the surgery and ask for another order. I refused as this was a fault on the part of the Chemist (Locum)

At least now I have my medication correct so that this will not occur again, though at the time, I had to return to the Chemist in order to speak with another Pharmacist after the weekend who recognized the issue at once and gave me the correct order that the surgery had requested. The nurse was really helpful in giving me a copy of my medication details for future needs should any arise.

I feel comfortable visiting the Practice knowing that as a patient my needs will be acknowledged and where appropriate rectified.
