I and my husband are so grateful to the paramedic staff and those in the AMU and CCU departments. Last Saturday morning my husband collapsed and stopped breathing for a few seconds. Although he is 69 years old, he is very fit and healthy, the shock of the event was immense.
The paramedics arrived within 5 minutes and dealt with the situation in an exemplary way, my husband was admitted to the AMU the staff and doctors were very attentive and caring. We would like to thank them and in particular the doctor, Ashock. My husband was left under observation for a while and had 2 further incidents when he blacked out and his heart stopped again. This was traumatic for myself as the onlooker, but they were so kind and understanding. The doctor concluded that my husband needed a temporary/permanent pacemaker fitted.
My husband was moved to the CCU to undertake the procedure. The on call weekend consultant, Dr Panting was excellent in fitting the temporary pacemaker, again all the staff from the voluntary ones, nurses particularly, Debbie, Emma, Laura, Jun and Cymba as well as the technicians gave a fantastic service. Our sincere thanks goes to them all as well as the ones not mentioned. My husband returned home on Monday evening. We both feel so lucky that such wonderful, skilled people are employed by the NHS.
"Excellent service from hospital & paramedics"
