On the 29th July 2018 I laboured and gave birth to my perfect baby boy at The Friarage Maternity Centre. I was absolutely astounded at the care that not only myself and baby, but birthing partners received. Two midwives were so attentive, supportive and amazingly suited to their roles. Upon arrival, myself and my birthing partners received breakfast and were welcomed into a gorgeous, well equipped room. I remained in the room for a short while before getting into the birthing pool, words cannot express how perfect the room was. With dim lighting, music and candles it is nothing less than I could or would’ve hoped for, had I been paying privately. The birth was so smooth and an enjoyable experience, as far as possible whilst in pain! The midwives were very knowledgable, but laid back in their approach and I whole heartedly believe that this contributed to the ease of my birth. As a first time Mum I have nothing to compare my experience with, however I am confident that the experience would have been nowhere near as positive, had I delivered my baby anywhere else. Everything was done on my terms and I was 100% involved at all stages, regarding any decision, big or small. At only 10 minutes further than James Cook from my home in Redcar, it was totally worth the journey - do not let this put you off! I urge anyone who is low dependency to make use of this amazing facility, I guarantee you would not regret it! Thank you so much Friarage, I couldn’t have done it without you!
