"Day surgery unit quality of care, superb!"

I had eye surgery in the unit last week and couldn't have asked for better care. All of the staff were outstanding and there's clearly a culture of true compassionate care on the unit. My named nurse was very kind and took time before and after the surgery to make sure I was OK and knew exactly what to do once home. I saw the consultant before I went to theatre and she explained clearly what she was going to do, what to expect post-op and explained how my vision would be for the first few weeks. The anaesthetist and everyone in the anaesthetic room were very professional and put me at ease, as did the nurse in the recovery unit. I arrived at the unit at 7 am and was home by 1 pm confident that all was well and armed with clear written instructions. An appointment was organised for a check up the following day. Dr was thorough, but gentle and reassured me that everything was fine. Six days post-op now and my vision is already better than it was before the surgery. I can't thank the team enough.
