"wonderful Hospital Birth Centre terrible Post..."

About: St Thomas' Hospital / Maternity care

The hospital birth centre was a wonderful experience and the two midwives were absolutely wonderful! I have been given epidural, comfortable bed, lovely room and a bathroom I have been treated with such respect and the staff was extremely pleasant and professional. Unfortunately after an emergency C section I ended up in post natal Ward which was absolutely opposite and rather a terrible experience. I was in the room with 3 constantly screaming babies, the staff was not pleasant and the care was poor. I found the place depressing, disorganised and thank God I left 24 hrs after my surgery. Pleasingly I recovered back home !

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We are pleased to hear that your experience of the hospital birth centre was a positive one and you felt well supported and respected during your stay on the unit. We are sorry to hear that you found the attitude of the staff and the quality of care provided on the postnatal ward to be so poor. We would like to apologise for this. We would like to learn more about your experience so that we can improve the quality of care we provide for women. If you would like to contact our PALS Team on 020 718 8801 or email pals@gstt.nhs.uk they will be able to look into this matter further.
