I just wanted to thank everyone at MPH for the exceptional care that I have received over the past few weeks. I was admitted on Sunday 22 July with immense back pain and no movement in my legs. As I was already under treatment at the fantastic Beacon Centre for prostate cancer I later in the afternoon had an MRI scan which revealed a tumour growing on the inside of one of my vertabra which was compacting my spinal cord. The doctor very compassionately explained the situation to me and I was later seen by a member of staff who would be my surgeon, he reassured me and had already prepared a team for an emergency operation first thing on Monday 23rd July as he only had a small window of time before it would be irreversible. The operation was a success and I woke up in recovery feeling great, I even had a phone call with my wife! I can't believe how lucky I have been to receive such prompt treatment, without my surgeon and his team I would have been confined to a wheelchair for life. I then spent about 8 days on Hestercombe ward and was amazed at the care, kindness and compassion shown by everyone there from the nursing staff and physio's to the porters and cleaners they are all special and I will carry their names and faces with me forever. They all had a kind word and a happy smile, they brightened my days and made my stay more bearable than I could have imagined. It is down to these wonderful staff that MPH shines. May it shine on forever.
"A big thank you"
