It's taken me a while to write this but my baby was born at 29+5 back in April, she spent 7 weeks in the neonatal unit before we got to take take home.
Our time in the unit was made bearable by the fantastic staff and facilities there.
The nurses, developmental therapists and Shelley on reception are an absolute credit to themselves and to the trust!
Nothing was ever to much trouble for any of them, my husband and I felt fully supported, updated and knew exactly what was going on with our baby at all times. It made the toughest time easier knowing that when we left at night to go home our little girl was in the safest of hands with plenty lovely girls willing to cuddle her should she need it. It was lovely to go into the unit in the morning to photos, especially in the early days when she was covered in attachments to see a mask free photo of your her face as the nurses had taken a photo as they weighed her overnight or to read the whiteboard with little updates.
It was great to be included in our babies care right from the beginning and know it was never to much trouble to take her out of the incubator for a cuddle. I was so supported with expressing and breast feeding and it was amazing that the support continued once we left the unit and the outreach team came to see us at home.
You ladies truly are a credit to yourselves, your charge nurses and to the trust. There is nothing in the world that can ever begin to quantify our gratitude for what you have given us and our family as without you lovely humble girls, our little one would not be here.
