My Story
2016 I went to the doctors to have my prostate examined(psacheck) the Dr said my prostate was enlarged. I had no symptoms.
The Dr referred me to a specialist at Castle Hill Hospital. The results came back from Castle Hill with the worst result ever Cancer of the prostate.
2017 I was referred to a surgeon at Castle Hill urology. He explained the various options to go down, in my case he said it would be be better to have the prostate removed.15th April 2017 I had my operation.
After the op I did my Kegel exercises to help with my bladder weakness from the op. Unfortunately no matter how many times I would do these exercises it didn't help.
The surgeon said I was 1 in 100 which would cause bladder weakness after the op.
I was referred to a Dr, he did a few tests but in so many words he said I would not get dry. He explained the sling or Ams 800 artificial sphincter.
After a long time thinking of having another operation I decided I could not go on as I was so I opted for the AMS 800.
In May 2018 I had the Ams 800 fitted by the Dr. The DR advised to review in 6-8wks in hope to get activated. It felt like 8 years.
Finally the day came 5th july 2018 the Dr activated my AMS 800 Arificial Sphincter and I am now 100%dry.
I Just like to Thank all the Doctors and Staff who looked after me during my journey especially ward 10 and 15 at Castle Hill Hospital
