Day stay minor op with general anaesthetic. From checking in to leaving the hospital, all the staff and doctors showed an excellent standard of care. Everything was explained well, making me feel I was in safe hands.
I cannot fault this hospital and staff for the excellent care that I received.
However it does appear that a patients' clothes and shoes are placed in the same hospital bag when they are admitted. I'd like to suggest that clothes and shoes be placed in separate bags to avoid possible risk of infection from the soles of the shoes coming into contact with patient clothing that had to be worn when they return home following day stay surgery.
I appreciate this is probably common practice across most hospitals, but with the risk of infection always on the agenda and resistant antibiotics, perhaps a small separate bag for shoes could be considered?
"Excellent care and a small suggestion"
