My partner was assaulted after a night out and we were brought to the A&E department in the early hours of the morning and was told that we would have to wait 3/4 hours even though he had a head injury and I understand that some cases are life or death situations however I feel that the receptionist was quite rude and stated that we had been told already that we would have to wait and had no compassion whatsoever with the situation we were in. My partner is also autistic so was under a lot of stress and struggled with his emotions that day and she said that he was shouting at her - however he was not, he had just raised his voice because he didn't understand what was happening as other professionals had told him one thing and then hospital staff were telling him another thing. We were eventually called into see the doctor, although he was lovely, he only cleaned one cut on his face, it wasn't until I pointed out about the other cut did he clean it. The doctor also asked that we kept the bandages on for 7 days due to the stitches but didn't give us any new ones to put on.
I feel that we were treated unfairly all because we had had a drink on a night out. I also feel that the staff at this hospital needs some training on autism/mental health and how to handle situation instead of making things worse as I have had to calm him down which shouldn't have happened.
