About: Pontefract General Infirmary

Anything else?

my mother was admitted after a hip operation at pinderfields for rehabiliatation. Couldnt get there over the weekend as mum was admitted on the friday and it was my working weekend. When i saw her on the monday she had been pressing her buzzer for at least 40 mins when i arrived. The nursing staff were sitting chatting behind the reception area. Mum had had an he answer.as she had diahhorea, she was really upset and it was all over the floor. i was so annoyed as the nurses were just ignoring the buzzers i shouted out to them to come and help mum and they came about 5mins later, her leg bag was full. they didnt even offer to shower her, so i did it myself. to be honest i am sick to death of nurses moanong that they are over worked and under payed. i think they are so lazy and they need to bring matrons back on the ward as i feel this would make them get off there backsides. i thought nursing was a caring profession but what i have seen and encountered over the past few weeks is a disgrace. i think the nhs needs to reaccess the nurses role on the wards and if the nurses arent good enough get rid of them. give the job to someone who is caring and not afraid of work. i fear for myself and my family over the next 20 years as i dont think there will be an nhs anymore and i think private hospitals will be
