I would like to comment on the treatment I received for the above condition.
I was first diagnosed with an aneurysm in January 2015 when the surgeon immediately prescribed an aspirin and a statin. Thereafter I had regular 6 monthly scans to measure any increase in size.
After it became apparent that an operation was necessary in January 2018 the surgeon fully involved me in the decision making process as to the best route forward- open surgery or endovascular and I met him several times to discuss this. He fully explained the alternatives, discussed possible complications in my own particular case but also I believe took into account my own preferences. He also consulted the MD Team. All this gave me confidence as I felt I was in the care of a totally professional doctor.
The pre assessment arranged by the surgeon and the doctor was also totally thorough and professional
The operation I believe was very successful and all of the possible complications were avoided because of their skill as a surgeon- loss of circulation to iliac artery, to the kidneys and the difficulty of fixing the stent to an area that itself was weak. I can only thank him for his skill as a surgeon
I would also like to thank the doctor for his professionalism and to all the staff who treated me with kindness and consideration.
