On admission to the Day care unit for repair to a fracture sustained at the beginning of the week, I was treated very well by Staff. Although busy, the ward sister made time to visit from time to time to communicate that I had not been forgotten about, Later theater manager visited to explain delay, as the Emergency Theater I was booked into , was obviously being used for two more urgent last minute emergencies.
I was given the choice to continue waiting, or take up a place the following week. i chose former.
At all stages I was kept informed by the Teams involved in my operation.
this was carried out later in the day,
Support and good humor while checks and anesthetic being administered.
in the recovery room I woke in acute pain, the nurse was absolutely wonderful dealing with a slight crisis that was no fault of anyone, but she arranged for the on call eye Doctor to see me immediately, and all was sorted, including an overnight stay which had become necessary.
I know she was late off shift that night, not because she told me, but something overheard, It did not seem to matter to her. She cared for me until I was recovered enough to go to a room. She was everything a nurse should be and more.
my only regret is that because I didn't ask, I don't know her name to thank her personally.
if anyone reads these, please could you take the trouble to find out and convey my gratitude to her.
I do know it was around 7.00pm friday.
Further care by nursing staff and on call physio until my return home on the Saturday next day was first class.
Thank you so much everyone.
