"Emergency admission due to detached retina"

About: Sussex Eye Hospital / Ophthalmology

I had no clue what a detached retina was, nor how urgent an issue it is until I suddenly lost the sight in one eye. I saw a consultant on a Wednesday and was admitted for surgery at 07:30 on Friday the same week. Every single person, nurse, anaesthetist, doctor and surgeon who dealt with me was truly excellent, kind, caring, diligent and understanding of my nervousness. I can honestly say I have never had a better experience within the NHS.

Thank you so much for taking the time to contact us following your experience at our hospitals.

I will ensure that I share your kind comments with the team, who I know will be most grateful.

I hope you are recovering well at home now.

With best wishes
