What I liked

the staff were as helpful as they could be under the amount of pressure they were under one nurse was especially helpful and very down to earth. The hospital is layed out extreemely clearly and is well presented.

What could be improved

i had to wait 14 hours to get a bed and 14 and a half hours to be seen by a surgeon. This was very distressing for me as the staff were doing their best to keep me informed but had no information to give. Also was told by the doctor who originally examined the wound that if i came in for 7.30 the day after, unless there were trauma cases i would be seen farely soon as i was first in, there were many similar cases to me that day and out of 5 people that were in the clinic that day i was the last to be seen. So i was told to fast from 10 the previous evening and left without being able to eat for nearly 24 hours. The whole experience would have been made less stressful had i been able to have a drink or small snack mid way through the day, but to be left for 14 hours in the same room with barely any information is beyond a joke. I was not even seen by a nurse or checked what kind of pain i was in for 12 of these 14 hours. I informed the nurses that the antibiotics they had given me the night before were making me feel very sick and dizzy yet nothing was done to change that until the morning of my departure which was 28 hours later once i had spoken to the surgeon that dealt with my injury. For such a small injury it was a very distressing time, which i understand i was obviously low on the priority list, but i should have been made aware of this on the first night i was here so i wasnt worrying in the waiting room for 14 hours the day after thinking it was a bigger issue than it was. Considering the actual procedure only took approximately 30 mins this made the wait even more frustrating. Also i was told by the surgeon at 8.00 am that i could go home 3 hours later i am still waiting for my medicines and dressing change and as my dad lives an hour away and is caring for my mother with cancer he cannot leave until i have a defineate discharge time and no one is letting me know when this will be. Also very unfair on any patient.
