"Cancelled and delayed appointments, customer care"

About: Northwick Park Hospital

I’m contacting to express my experience with hospital appointment and utter disappointment of the service.

Earlier in the year, I desperately tried to secure a follow up appointment for my daughter to see her orthodontics given that the last appointment was in December 2017.

She was given a follow up appointment for April 2018, which was cancelled and rescheduled for June 2018.

This was cancelled again for an appointment in October 2018!! This means she would have had the braces on for 10 months without any adjustment made !

My understanding was adjustment will be made every 6 weeks. She was meant to have a surgery as part of the planned treatment, but her doctor went on maternity leave and this was not picked or followed up.

I contacted the appointment office to complain and got an earlier date for 31 May 2018

I received another message to inform that this has also been cancelled for another date confirmed and actioned on the 12 June 2018 !!! - 6 months after the last appointment.

She has had the braces now for 2 years plus and have not been properly followed up as her doctor went on maternity leave.

Follow up treatment has since dragged on or abandoned from the proposed 2 years as all the temporary covers were reluctant to implement Dr Izadi’s proposed action plan.

Her next appointment is scheduled for 1 August 2018 - if not cancelled.

Please could you assist with investigating this

Dear Sir/Madam

Thank you for documenting your concerns about your daughter's care under the orthodontics team.

I am very sorry for the difficulties you have been experiencing with her appointments and the lack of treatment she has had as a result.

We would of course welcome the opportunity to investigate this and I note that her next appointment is scheduled for this Wednesday.

If you would like to send your concerns as above to our Patient Relations team at LNWH-tr.patientrelations@nhs.net, and include yours and your daughter's details in this, we can ask that someone from the Orthodontics team makes contact with you.

Thank you again for taking the time to share your experience with us and we look forward to hearing from you further.

Kind regards

Peter Hare

Patient Liaison Manager
