"NNUH Early Pregnancy Unit"

About: Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital / Maternity

I visited the early pregnancy unit due to having some bleeding. When the sonographer scanned me she didn't show me the screen and just said 'all I can see is an empty sac'. Having never been pregnant before I didn't know what this meant and didn't get given the opportunity to ask any questions. I was told 'you shouldn't have come this early' but I only went due to my GO referring me.

I then went home and had to look up what an empty sac meant and why it might have been to early for me to go.

I just felt there was no understanding of my situation and the level of care I received wasn't satisfactory. I left very upset not really knowing what was going on. I would have appreciated her going through the options.

Dear Patient

I have shared your feedback with the senior managers in the hospital. Your experiences is not the level of care that we would expect our patients to receive and I apologise for the distress clearly caused to you. Please contact pals@nnuh.nhs.uk so we can look into this further and see what we can learn from this.

With kind regards

PALS Manager
