"Ridiculous wait with child."

About: Ripley Hospital

My husband took my daughter today after been given an appt by111. This is not our closest outof hours but we were willing to drive further to avoid a long wait with a poorly child. The appointment was for 9.30 and they are still waiting at 11.15. There is a 15 minute queue just to ask how long they might be waiting. Know it’s busy but pointless giving appointments if they are going to disregard them like this. Should have gone to kingsmill.

We are very sorry to hear about the poor experience your husband and daughter received at our Minor Injuries Unit (MIU) at Ripley Hospital.

Having contacted the Senior Emergency Nurse Practitioner in MIU she can confirm that the department was very busy on Saturday Morning and that they had 25 patients booked in between 08:00-10:00, 111 patients should be seen within 30 minutes of arrival and she will reiterate this to staff. There is a board which should be updated ½ hourly in the department as is our website of any delays. Staff will also be reminded to keep patients updated should any delays occur.

We have one desk in Ripley Minor Injuries so I am afraid if a patient is being booked in, the member of staff won’t stop dealing with that patient to answer an enquiry which could be the reason for the queue to speak to the administrator.

This is not our usual standard of care and we would like the opportunity to investigate why this has happened.
