"Cardiac Arrest"

About: Lister Hospital

I don't have memory of any of this but five weeks ago whilst at a WGC community centre I had a cardiac arrest.

Fortunately I was immediately given CPR by an experienced person and an on-site defibrillator used. Emergency services quickly arrived and took over. Transferred to Lister Critical Care Unit where kept in an induced coma for 5 days. Brought back to consciousness and transferred to the Acute Cardiac Ward for further assessment and treatment.

Although I was totally unaware of all that happened in those early days I can only believe my treatment was both remarkable and professional. I would like to thank all involved for giving me a second lease of life. Dedicated kind staff.

Thank you for getting in touch and sharing your story with us during what must have been a difficult time for both you and your family. We're very pleased to hear that you were looked after well by our colleagues in cardiology and critical care and we'll make sure your thanks is passed on to both teams. We wish you well with your recovery.
