I took my mum for a pre-op assessment in June, with the operation on her ankle booked for June 2011.
Due to a chest cold the op was cancelled ( for fear of complications with the anaesthetic)
When Mum was better, approx 3wks later, she rang the hospital to let them know she was better & asked to be put on the cancellation list.
It is now 5 months on & we finally heard today, despite numerous phone calls, that she wasn't actually put on the waiting list for a cancellation & will now have to wait until February at the earliest to actually have the op!
In the meantime the surgical appliances dept at K&C have told her she cannot have a new boot, to offer support on the ankle, as the cost & timescale for making it is negligible.
Meanwhile, my Mum can barely walk enough to get herself to the loo!
The news reported yesterday that Government guidlines have said that the 18week waiting perion for treatment is far too long & should be reduced. How about an 8 month wait!
"My mum can barely walk"
