"Well done monklands"

About: University Hospital Monklands / Emergency Department University Hospital Monklands / General Surgery (Wards 4 & 7)

(as a relative),

My mum became very unwell on a Saturday morning, nhs24 sent out a doctor to have a look at my mum. The doctor was extremely concerned and called for another doctor and paramedic’s

My mum was taken to monklands a&e then onto theatre, they had to act very quickly as my mum had sespis and needed surgery urgently. Within a few hours my mum had a ct scan, surgery and was transferred to ward 7 and the ward 4. We have had to make very difficult decisions over the past 10 days. Without the guidance of MR McDonald the surgeon and the fabulous nurses like Karen, the decisions would have not been possible and it may have turned out not to be in my mums best interests.

It is truly person centred care, with a added focus of a partnership between the medical staff and us as a family. My mum has dementia and with Johns Campaign I was able to stay with my mum and even get to wash her hair.

Monklands hospital from start to finish have been outstanding, the care received was of a very high standard ward 4 you should be very proud of yourselves

Dear Pamsie26

Thank you for your recent post on care opinion. Sounds like you have been through a very challenging time. However delighted that you had a good experience through our system and efficient.

I am so please and will have great pleasure in passing on your thanks to Mr Mc Donald, Karen, Ward 7 and Ward 4 nursing staff.

Our staff strive to deliver the best person centred care to all patients in our areas. John Campaign is an excellent initiative allowing for you to stay with your mum in what must have been a difficult time for her especially having dementia. Being able to assist with personal care also would have put both yourself and your mum as ease.

Hope your mum is progressing well

Many thanks

Best Regards

Karen
