About: Tameside General Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as the patient),

Im 55 year old male, had bad fall down concrete steps, right ankle all messed up

went to Tameside A&E sunday

wait 30 minutes to see Triage, due to a couple of patients with higher priorities, no issue.

Triage sent me for xrays on black swollen ankle, wait 20 minutes for xray to be taken

20 minutes wait for head nurse assessment with me of xrays.

Assessment done, course of action explained.

out all done from check in to check out 1hr 50 mins

Fantastic service. You just want to know if its broke and what to do next.

Hi Katie, it does seem that you need two A&E sides to the department, one where people know whats up and one for the serious stuff, channel QP for quick patch, dirt in eye, nail in foot, twisted joint straight to xray, stich up a cut, all can be done by one nurse in an hour turn round for each no need to see a doctor at all. Then the doctor channel who do serious stuff. The triage was good, thanks again to all.
