"This time breast screening was so much better"

About: St James's University Hospital / Breast surgery

(as a service user),

My first experience 3 years ago was quite traumatic as it was so painful and the radiographer very routinised and detached so their response had been you’ve got ‘dense’ breast tissue like it was my fault.... this time was much better, I took pain relief and hour before hand (I do think units should consider suggesting it) and after sharing my fear this radiographer couldn’t have been more sympathetic, encouraging, skilled and quick..... another reminder for healthcare staffthat every interaction counts and to never underestimate the mundane or routine - it isn’t for the person who is the patient.....

Dear Biddy

Thank you so much for taking the time to write to us with your lovely feedback.

I have taken the liberty of sharing your words of support and encouragement with the manager for the service and asked that this is shared with all the team. I know that all the staff will be delighted to know they delivered the care and service that met all your needs and expectations.

Once Again, thank you so much for taking the time to write to us.

With kindest regards

Rosie
