My first experience 3 years ago was quite traumatic as it was so painful and the radiographer very routinised and detached so their response had been you’ve got ‘dense’ breast tissue like it was my fault.... this time was much better, I took pain relief and hour before hand (I do think units should consider suggesting it) and after sharing my fear this radiographer couldn’t have been more sympathetic, encouraging, skilled and quick..... another reminder for healthcare staffthat every interaction counts and to never underestimate the mundane or routine - it isn’t for the person who is the patient.....
