"Nice experience at MRI appointment today"

I had a pelvic MRI today at Hairmyres Hospital and I wanted to let you know how pleased I was with the whole experience, having never had an MRI before.

First of all I was seen on time, which was good. The nurse who went through the safety questions was very nice and friendly, taking her time when I got a bit flustered due to my anxiety.

Also I would like to praise the two radiologists who actually did the procedure. They put me at ease and explained things to me, and played the CD that I brought in with me during the procedure which helped to distract somewhat from the MRI machine.

Finally, after the MRI, the consultant doctor came to speak to me. He spent a lot of time with me explaining the procedure that I am waiting to have done (the reason for the MRI was to see if I was suitable) and answered all of my questions patiently and was very friendly.

All in all a very positive experience and after the stress of all the bad experiences I've had with NHS Lanarkshire recently I felt it was important to acknowledge the good things as well.

I'm afraid I don't know the names of the people that I came across during my MRI experience but please could you find out who they are and pass on my thanks to all of them.

Many thanks for taking the time to pass comment on your positive experience within the MRI unit at University Hospital Hairmyres.. We are aware that patients can sometimes feel anxious prior this examinations and I am pleased that staff were able to make you feel at ease throughout the examination and that the Radiology Consultant was also available to spend time answering your questions regarding the exam and any further procedures that you are waiting for.

I will ensure that your positive comments are passed to the relevant MRI staff and Radiology Consultants as it is always nice to know that we make a difference to a patients experience.
