"I feel confident with the team looking after me"

I recently attended the women’s day case unit - clinic B following a referral after my smear test being abnormal. As a staff nurse myself it was daunting being “on the other side”. I had to have part of my cervix removed and biopsies taken which was very daunting. I had some complications during the procedure but the staff were incredibly supportive and put me at ease throughout.

I was given plenty time to ask questions before and after the procedures which helped put me at ease too. My partner was also treated with respect and made to feel he was part of my care and he was doing something to help. It’s a very anxious time waiting for results but I feel confident with the team looking after me and know that my return visit will be easier with a friendly team waiting.

It is very kind of you to share your recent experience in the Women's day Clinic. It can be a very stressful time being a patient when you have the experience of being a nurse. The Women's Day Clinic deliver a high standard of patient care and I am delighted to hear you felt well informed and although there were complications during the procedure you felt well supported.

I have shared your feedback with the multidisciplinary team who perform colposcopies in the Women's day Clinic. They are delighted to hear you felt your procedure went well and also that your husband felt involved in your experience.

I hope your wait for results isn't too long and appreciate this is an anxious time. However it is reassuring to hear you have confidence in the Women's Day Clinic team should you have to return.
