"My ordeal"

About: Medway Maritime Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as the patient),

I recently had varico vein surgery at Will Adams treatment centre and was discharged 2 hours after surgery being advised to contact the centre in case of emergengy. I phoned 2 days after to complain about loss of sensation in the area operated and numbness of the foot and they advised me to monitor the situation and it might be only post surgery reaction. On saturday( 3 days after), I rang again to complain about the same problem and swelling of the area and this time they were quick to say that I needed to go to A& E as quick as possible. My partner took me to Medway Maritime Hospital the closest to us and my ordeal started. We got there at 14. 20. I could barely walk but dragged myself there. We were told that I needed to seen because this was life threatening due to clotting. We sat there until quarter past midnight before being seen. We witnessed 2 changes of shifts. A receptionist who was so unpleasant and rude who I felt was making excuses for everything. Nobody came to ask how I was. After more than 10 hours of wait, my leg was even worse as I could no longer move about. Had to get a wheelchair. Almost in tears. Never again.
