Following a fall at home I attended A&E RUH, Bath 19th June 2018 when I was diagnosed with a closed proximal fracture to my right leg. I attended the Fracture Clinic on 4th July for examination to my very swollen right ankle. Repeated imaging revealed a fracture pattern consistent with a Maisonneuve-type syndesmotic injury which required operative fixing. I was admitted from the Fracture Clinic to Pierce Ward at the RUH.
I underwent transyndesmotic screw fixation to my right ankle on 6th July and afterwards was seen by the physiotherapy team during my in-patient admission. I was discharged on 7th July for a follow up check in Fracture Clinic in 2 weeks and was issued with a walking boot, walking frame and care instructions.
From the moment I entered the RUH until my discharge I have absolutely nothing but praise for all the staff, The Fracture Clinic were welcoming and friendly. I have nothing but absolute praise for ALL the nursing staff on Pierce Ward. The same goes for the hospital porters, theatre staff, nurses in recovery, All staff were exceptional, professional, caring and friendly. The food was very good with plenty of choice. All the staff do such a wonderful job in such busy and difficult circumstances. They are a credit to the RUH.
"Fantastic hospital in every aspect"
