"Pinderfields Hospital using premium rate number"

About: Pinderfields General Hospital / Older people's healthcare

Pinderfields Hospital uses a premium rate number which is confusing and misleading to patients.

Government guidelines said patients should not be charged more than the price of a local call to ring an NHS hospital.

Pinderfields are making money from patients and their families when they are most vulnerable.

Not impressed.

Thank you for your comments and I am sorry you have been left feel dissatisfied by your experience.

On our website, we do offer our 01924 number along with 084 number.

The 084 number does offer an overall tariff which for landline telephones is charged at 4p - 7p (depending on which network the landline is with) 1p per call is paid to the Trust.

It can cost up to 42p per minute from a mobile telephone as service providers add on service charges.

At the beginning of a call from a mobile telephone, there is usually a message advising about a service charge.

The BT charge rate is 5.1p per minute.

However, if dialing from a mobile, there will be a connection fee of 15p.

We have been reviewing our website and correspondence to ensure that we promote the 01924 telephone before the 084 number.

I am sorry if you feel the Trust is making money from it's patients and their families.

Thank you again for your comments.

Kind regards

Clare Blackburn
