"Disappointed by midwife support in Dartford"

I felt that the midwife support in Dartford for second pregnancy was disgraceful. Not only did my midwife leave, without informing me, I then had to see a 'stand in' who seemed to have no idea at all about my medical conditions.

When the new midwife finally came I felt that I was just an inconvience to her as I couldnt walk the 30 mins to the center due to excruciating sciatica and high blood pressure. I was told that she just did not do home visits.

She then changed my consultant (as i was having an elective c section) without informing me of this and without giving me a reason why. When I finally received an appointment with the consultant (at Darent Valley) he was appalled at the level of care I had recevied and refused to let me go back to see the midwife as he felt I had been totally misinformed about a lot of things, including the medication I was taking.

I have been appalled at the level of care and disgusted that, suffering the way i have been, I only actually saw my midwife a handful of times (being a different one nearly every time). I am now waiting to go in for my c section in the next few days and have found the consultant (even though slightly rude) very helpful and understanding.

I think Darent Valley Hospital is far from the best hospital out there but is a lot better than some. Its just a shame that my experience of pregnancy was blighted by the disgracful midwife care I received.
