"Waiting for referral"

About: Pinderfields General Hospital / Accident and emergency

i was admitted by ambulance to A & E department. Staff I saw were very good and the dept was clearly busy. After 12 hours and a move to ambulatory care I was told by the consultant that a letter would be sent to my Gp to be referred for a stomach endoscopy. 6 weeks later my Gp has not received this letter which is disappointing given that I still have s lot of discomfort. I am concerned that a referral could not be made there and then rather than have such a delay. I have tried to contact A & E ward to chase the letter but never get a reply. Why cant a referral be made straight from an A & E consultant so that my discomfort could be attended to sooner as of today’s date goodness knows when I will be seen because of the delay.
