"Snatching chaos from potential."

About: Ouse Valley Practice

I recently moved into the area and as the Handcross practice was close by I decided to register there.

I have ongoing medical conditions that I take medication for so repeat prescriptions are a w ay of life.

I collected my first prescription upon registering and placed my repeat prescription order in good time.

When I went in to collect the prescription I was told that it was at the Balcombe surgery, I had never been asked if I wanted my prescription sending there and was not even aware that it existed until that point.

I told the pharmacist that I had not requested that and it was not convenient for me to collect from there. I waited whilst another prescription was signed by the doctor, then dispensed, altogether 35 minutes taken up.

I was assured by the pharmacist that my prescriptions would in future be dispensed for me at Handcross, imagine my dismay when I was once again faced with exactly the same issue today when I used my lunch break to go and collect the prescription from

Handcross, but no, it's once again at Balcombe !

The best they could do was have me come back again when the prescription had come from Balcombe.

I work and have very little time to waste, the surgery does not operate the electronic system that would allow me to get an outside company to pick up my prescriptions and deliver them to me, and as I have not got time to waste every time I need to get repeat prescriptions I will now start looking for another surgery that is a little more organised.

It's a shame because they have fantastic potential, they just don't appear to be able to quite reach it.

I am the Practice Manager and I am sorry to read your comments relating to the collection of your prescription.

I am always happy to discuss in person or on the telephone any issues that patients are having. I can assure you that this issue has been corrected and will not happen again.
