I went to A&E at Maidstone Hospital today (Wednesday 18th July) with severe abdominal cramps, worried that it could be something more serious my partner decided a visit was necessary.
We arrived around 8:30 & were seen by the triage nurse fairly quickly, she have me a pot for a urine sample & explained I should be seen by a doctor within an hour. After around 30 minutes another nurse called my name to collect the urine sample & was very understanding when I explained I had not yet done a urine sample, she let me go & do the urine sample & was there waiting to take it from me when I was done. Shortly after I was seen by the doctor who was very easy to talk to, after explaining she wasn't entirely sure what the pain was she asked if we would have time to wait around for her to check some bloods & put me on fluids due to my blood pressure being low (I am a small girl but she wanted to check if I was dehydrated).
She promptly took me through to attach the canulla & take some blood, I was then put on a bed to sit & wait for the results while the saline drip did it's thing. The nurses were all very nice & seemed quite chirpy trying to patients spirits high where possible. After another hour of waiting I was let go with the reassuring news that my results bad all come back fine & knowing my blood pressure is just normally low due to my size. Although I didn't find out exactly what was wrong, I have been sent home with the peace of mind that I have nothing serious to worry about & with the advice to go back should my symptoms still continue.
The doctor & the nurses working today were a great help & made my visit as easy & stress free as possible. I'm grateful for all the checks they did for me & how easy they made my visit.
Thank you
