"Huge thanks for my care within nhsggc"

About: NHS 24 / NHS 24 (111 service) Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Accident & Emergency Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Breathing and lung problems (Respiratory Wards 7a, 7b, 7c & 7d) Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Communicable Diseases (Ward 5c) Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance

(as the patient),

I became very unwell at home out of hours. From calling NHS24 to the ambulance arriving I was at A&E within QEUH Within 30 minutes.

I was quickly seen and diagnosed with pneumonia

There are no words to explain the care and efficiency of all staff in A&E, ARU2 & ward 5C from being very unwell to being well enough to go home 4days later is nothing short of wonderful

There are many criticisms about the NHS In my opinion I don’t think Iwould have gotten well without it

A special thanks to the domestic lady in ward 5C ( sorry I can’t remember names) who gave me cups of tea to keep me going shows all part of a truly well managed team

I also had an appointment with the asthma nurse the day following my discharge

Kirsty came to see me at the ward to save me an extra visit to hospital

A huge thanks to everyone involved in my care

Dear wezensz44

How good of you to share your story via Care Opinion. I was sorry to learn of your pneumonia diagnosis but so pleased you are now discharged from hospital and I wish you a continued recovery. I am sure this would have been a worrying time for you and your family.

It sounds as though your care was exemplary which was a pleasure to read. I am sure my colleagues within NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde will be delighted with your comments.

The Care Opinion Team has kindly tagged your story to NHS 24 as you mentioned a call to our service. From what you have shared, it appears our staff recognised that you needed care urgently and requested an ambulance. If you have any specific comments you would like to provide about your call to NHS 24 then I would be pleased to hear directly from you. This would mean that I could share you story with the staff involved. I can be contacted at patientaffairs@nhs24.scot.nhs.uk or by telephone on 0141 337 4582.

In any event, I will share your story more widely within NHS 24 so that staff can be reminded of the hugely important role they have in providing seamless patient care.

Thanks again for your kind words and I do wish you well.

Take care

Shona
