"Fantastic care"

About: Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske) / Trauma and orthopaedics

Yesterday I was discharged from Constantine ward after having right knee surgery .

From the moment I stepped onto the ward

I was treated with care, kindness ,respect and dignity by a staff nurse.

I was a patient of an orthopaedic consultant who is amazing , I was extremely anxious and both the consultant and the anaesthetist both treated me with respect kindness abd put me at

The staff I met in the anaesthetic room were kind and compassionate. I am a nervous wreck at the thought of being put to sleep and not waking up !

When I did wake up in the recovery suite I was cared for by two lovely nurses sorry I can’t remember your names

(I blame the drugs ??) . You were so kind nothing was to much trouble , I spent an hour with you in the recovery suite and the care and attention was exemplary .

During my stay I met so many staff that put me at ease, the physiotherapists. The lovely porter that escorted me to theatre and distracted me when I was having a nervous wobble. A member of staff who made a lovely cup of tea, a Staff Nurse (agency nurse) who took my blood pressure and checked on me regularly.

Thank you ALL so much for making my stay a positive experience ??

Dear Catherine

Thank you very much for sharing your story on here praising your stay on Constantine Ward recently. It is fantastic to hear that you had such a positive patient experience and that all staff from the moment you stepped onto the ward treated you so well.

It is so important for our staff to take the time to make our patients as comfortable as possible and put them at ease, especially during understandably extremely anxious times and I am delighted that in your case this is exactly what they were able to do, from your orthopaedic consultant, to the anaesthetist and all nursing staff.

I will make sure that I share your feedback with the entire team that would have contributed to your care as I know it will mean so much to them knowing that they made your surgery experience as positive as it could be.

I hope that you are now well on your road to recovery and your knee is healing well.

With best wishes

Michaela Brewer, Patient & Family Experience Coordinator
