"Service has deteriorated..."

About: Blandford Medical Centre

Having been registered with this surgery for 14 years I have always felt the service offered to be adequate. But in recent times I have found the service offered by this surgery lacking. Since moving site and becoming a medical centre the service has certainly deteriorated. The surgery is clearly not staff adequately for the population it services. There is a lack of flexibility to book appointments, all is okay if you can pre-book or predict when you will fall ill. This is the reason A&E departments are soooooooo stretched people cannot get appointments with primary care when they need them so they attend the only place they know someone will see them.

Having to wait weeks for a blood pressure check which takes very little time is one thing, but when the nurse informs me "You need to sort it" in relation to cervical screening which is overdue without looking into any reasons I may be reluctant to take part. Which I know is not in the training when trying to encourage patients to take up these opportunities.

Then following discussion with the nurse about changing contraception I call to make the appointment and am given INCORRECT information by the reception staff......

And today after several days of suffering severe nose bleeds I try to book an appointment for son and am informed he can see someone in 3 weeks time but I can try every day at 08.00 to get him an appointment.

The last time I had to do this I made over 100 attempts before managing to make contact with the surgery to be told all appointments had gone for the day and I can only imagine that this side of things has not improved from other reviews I have read.
