From past monitoring visits, the staff and service has been fairly good, however, today, my six monthly Glaucoma monitoring service has virtually broken down. I have been told, that owing to orthoptist shortages, I will not be seen for these vital checks at all this year, when my regular appointment was due last May. The choice I have is to wait and risk potential damage to my eyes, or seek a private orthoptist and monitoring. Worryingly, the high street eye tests carried out annually, have been shown to be grossly inaccurate, compared to the more specialised equipment applied in the Bideford Eye Clinic, and so this is not a suitable and safe alternative.
