Writing this review on behalf of my husband who was initially treated for oral cancer in 2006. Couldn't fault the treatment my husband first received when first diagnosed, the surgery was done with great care and compassion as was the following treatment of radiotherapy and chemotherapy. My husband was well cared for by all staff both inpatient and outpatient.Unfortunately the same cannot be said sixteen years later now that the after effects of treatment are appearing. Diagnosed with several serious complications at the beginning of 2017 we have been astonished with the lack of care or compassion that is being shown. My husband has never expected any kind of preferential treatment and has always waited patiently for his turn,so to speak but we are constantly met with delayed appointments or worse no follow up appointment and trying to get through to the department to sort out problems is nigh on impossible most of the time. The lack of communication from this department when consulting with other departments in the same hospital is diabolical. My husband is currently in unbearable pain and feels so desolate and frightened with no quality of life the last thing we need as a family is to be living with the worry of having to spend another day trying to get in touch with someone from this department to find out what is going on. It is with great sadness that I have had to write such a bad review of what was once a great department but my frustration at the treatment my husband has received has left me no alternative and now feel that we have no choice but to take this matter further.
